Ninja Loves Pirate

Anyone who has any kind of access to the internet will know of the age old debate amongst enthusiasts - which is cooler, ninjas or pirates? Perhaps even Zombie Pirates? Robot Ninjas? The discussion is endless (and pointless - yet strangely hilarious), but Swedish developer Muskedunder Interactive is taking the talk to new heights, with the announcement and playable demo of Ninja Loves Pirate.

NLP is a side-scrolling platformer reminiscent of old arcade games. complete with blocky pixels and two-directional movement. It won't break any records or wow any technology nuts, but it has already received acclaim, including winning the Four Elements development contest with the demo. The demo was then nominated for best Swedish independent game of 2005.

PALGN has had a brief hands-on with the demo, which is available for everyone to download and play at www.ninjalovespirate.com. Complete with a lousy English translation, NLP tells the story of Blackbeard and Ichiro....a pirate and a ninja. The two team up after a mysterious object similar to the Death Star crashes into the ocean and unleashes zombie infection upon the unsuspecting island inhabitants. So, take control of both Blackbeard and Ichiro, use their piratey and ninjary skills and discover the source of these goings-on!

Would-be robbers get cut ... and run

Four men who broke into a south Minneapolis apartment early Wednesday had their hands full when two friends inside wrestled for the intruders' weapons and left at least one suspect minus fingers.

Police were called to the apartment building in the 3100 block of Lyndale Avenue S. about 3:30 a.m. on a report of a stabbing. Four men, one with a handgun, forced their way into a third-floor apartment, apparently to burglarize it, police said.

But one of the men in the apartment won the fight for a Samurai sword that a burglar had taken from a bedroom.

Westend knife thrower in jail

The cops don't like it when you play ninja. Vancouver Police Constable Tim Fanning says they've locked up a 30 year old man for practicing his knife throwing at a tree at Beach and Nicola in the Westend. It turns out the man had been ordered by the courts not to possess knives, let alone throwing them around. The name of the knife chucker was not released.

Pirates rescued at sea

A RED-FACED teen who got lost at sea while dressed up as pirate has said his rescue rated “15 out of 10” in terms of embarrassment.

Joe Adams, 18, admitted that his fancy dress dinghy outing with two friends had been “a bit stupid.”

The ultimate shame came when rescuers thought the young shipmates were actually dressed as characters from the Rocky Horror Picture Show.

Joe and two friends donned Jack Sparrow-style kit and took to the high seas in an inflatable dinghy last Wednesday.

The boys, who were celebrating the end of A-Levels in Benllech, north Wales, took a crate of beer and a bottle of rum as their only sustenance.

But the craft drifted out to sea off the coast of Anglesey, leaving the trio stranded.

A member of the public walking on a nearby beach spotted their plight and called the Coastguard, who launched an inshore lifeboat to rescue them.

Man known to locals as Ninja

There is a man here known to locals as Ninja. He seems to think that he is either a prophet of God or a god himself. When the United Kingdom recently experienced the hottest day on record, he stood in the city centre and took all the credit.
